Angry outbursts at home or school can be embarrassing and frustrating. Here are some parenting tips to help your child calm down:
- Is your child being bullied by other kids? Stress from bullying can lead to angry outbursts in teenagers. Get a professional counselor involved to help your child cope.
- Use common sense parenting to help your child understand that screaming or losing her temper is not the right way to express her anger, frustration, disagreement or displeasure.
- The next time your child refuses to stop yelling at you, give him a 10-minute time out in his room to think about the behavior.
- Catch your child being good! When you observe the good behavior, shower her with praise when she controls her temper or listens to what you are telling her to do.
